Terms of Service

Last updated: July 1, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using SHLTR, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Service Description

SHLTR provides information about publicly accessible emergency shelter and safe-parking locations, drawn from the FHWA National Bridge Inventory, OpenStreetMap, and FEMA, combined with real-time weather alerts. Information is provided as-is for emergency preparedness purposes.

3. Emergency Use Disclaimer

ALWAYS call 911 in a life-threatening emergency. SHLTR is a supplemental tool only and does not replace official emergency services or government evacuation orders. Do not rely solely on SHLTR during an active emergency.

4. Location Data

Location is used only to find nearby shelters and safe parking. Your location is not stored server-side unless you enable location sharing in settings. Location data shared within your family group is visible only to members you explicitly add.

5. Reporting Issues

If you report a safety concern or an issue with a shelter or parking location, that report may be used to improve data accuracy. Do not submit false or misleading reports.

6. Limitation of Liability

Shelter and parking conditions, availability, and safety cannot be guaranteed. Nickelby Group LLC is not liable for any outcomes resulting from reliance on information provided through this app.

7. Privacy

See our Privacy Policy for full details on data collection and use.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
