SHLTR Support
Need help? We're here.
- Why does SHLTR need my location?
- SHLTR uses your location only to show shelters and safe-parking locations near you and to provide directions. Your location is never sold or shared with third parties.
- Where does shelter and parking data come from?
- SHLTR draws from public datasets — including the FHWA National Bridge Inventory, OpenStreetMap, and FEMA — plus active National Weather Service alerts, to flag locations near a storm. Data reflects our public-infrastructure database, not live occupancy reports.
- I can't sign in. What do I do?
- Make sure you're using the email and password you signed up with. If you forgot your password, use "Reset Password" on the sign-in screen — a reset link will be sent to your email.
- Does SHLTR work offline?
- Yes. Maps and shelter data you've already loaded remain available without a signal, so you're not stranded during an outage.
- How do I add a family member for check-in?
- Go to Family > Add Family Member from the main menu and follow the invite steps.
